Recycled Paper
Recycled paper is paper that has been made in whole or in part from waste paper. If you notice that a paper product is labeled as recycled, you cannot assume that the paper has been made entirely from paper products that are recycled. In theory, if the paper says that it is 100% recycled it is made from wasted paper that has been recycled. Even so, some of the paper might be scraps from manufacturing that were never used at all.
You have probably noticed that some recycled paper products are grey. It is not uncommon to see grey notebooks and other paper sources. However, this does not need to be this way. In fact, you might very well have used paper that has gone through a recycling process without ever realizing it. Paper that has been recycled can be manufactured to be as white as newly manufactured paper.
There are three main types of paper that will be recycled. Paper that is scrap material from paper product manufacturing can be used to recycle. The same is true of pre-consumer paper. This is paper that was manufactured but for one reason or another was never sent out to consumers. Post-consumer paper is the type of paper that you will think of most. This is paper that was used by individuals, business and organizations and then become waste paper.
You can do your part to help protect the environment by always sending your paper to the recycling center. In addition, you can look to purchase paper products that are recycled. There is generally less pollution from the production of paper from recycled materials than new paper. Recycling paper generally results in a decreased consumption of energy and natural resources.
Use paper that is recycled to reduce the amount of trees being cut down throughout the earth. Be Responsible, Do your part.
