How to Recycle Plastic

It seems that recycling policies can get confusing for some consumers. Out of all the products that need to be recycled, plastics are something people are having difficulty with. Because there are different types of plastic that require different processes for proper reformulation and so on so forth, some people cannot deal. Add the different policies some municipalities have on recycling and we have a big mess on the recycling do’s and don’ts.

Here is a quick and easy to understand guide on how to recycle plastic and with it one of the biggest headaches out there—the dreaded plastic. You might be familiar with the symbol code. If not, it is the single digit from 1 to 7 surrounded by the triangle of arrows each one pointing the other in a cycle of sort designed by The Society of the Plastics Industry (SPI) in 1988.

Its goal is to allow consumer to differentiate between then types of plastics while providing a coding system for manufacturers nationwide. The numbers are required by 39 U.S. states to be imprinted on all eight-ounce to five-gallon plastic containers. The symbols must be at least half-inch minimum-sized to be seen clearly by the recycler. The American Plastics Council confirms that the codes help recyclers with what to do.

Number 1 goes to the easiest and most common plastics to recycle. They are made of polyethylene terephthalate (PETE). Examples are soda and water bottles, medicine containers, and almost all consumer product containers. After processing by a recycling facility, the PETE are turned into fiberfill for winter coats, sleeping bags and life jackets!

High-density polyethylene plastics get number 2. Heavy containers for laundry detergents, milk, shampoo and the like are examples of these. These can be reused and made into toys, plastic lumber, pipes and rope. These two types of plastic are easiest to recycle and most centers will happily accept them for processing. What happens when you run into the harder parts to recycle?

These products are marked from number 3 and up and can usually refer to your shower curtains, and baby nipples. Even further down the danger zone is number 4 which pertains to your grocery and shopping plastic bags. Best solution that we can all benefit from is simply to stop the use of such plastic products and employ biodegradable alternatives instead. We will all breathe easier and bless the next generation with our forward thinking as well.

This is how to recycle plastic the easy way, also more on what plastic is easiest to recycle!

How to Recycle Cardboard Easily

Cardboard recycling is one of the things you can do reduce landfill waste, save energy and water while cutting down on pollution. Cardboard makes up over 90% of all materials used for packaging in the United States, but is an easily recyclable material. There is no need to keep producing new cardboard products. If you get into the habit of recycling cardboard, you’ll discover that it’s simple and easy.

When it comes to How To Recycle Cardboard,

Two types of cardboard can be recycled: the corrugated cardboard, used for packaging materials, and paperboard which is used for cereal boxes, shoe boxes and tissue boxes. Corrugated cardboard has a wavy cardboard piece in between two flat pieces of cardboard. Paperboard is one single flat sheet that is not really cardboard but can be recycled along with.

Cardboard that has been stained with grease or oil as with pizza boxes cannot be recycled. Wet or soggy cardboard likewise cannot be recycled. Your community’s curbside pick-up service is simplest way to recycle cardboard is to use your community’s curbside pick-up service or to simply take the cardboard to e be recycled to the nearest drop-off center. You can do a quick search online or check the phone book for information on where to find one.

Supermarkets usually accept old cardboard boxes, but there is no harm in calling to check first. The first step in recycling, make sure your boxes are clean and empty. Clear off any plastic, foam peanuts, and peel off remaining packing tape. Cut down the sides and flatten off the boxes. Next, store them in a paper bag or simply tie them together with a string to make a handle for easier to transportation.

There are other ways to reuse cardboard other than recycling. The boxes you receive in the mail are something you may reuse. As it is in good condition, you only need to re-package your items in these cardboard boxes whether for gift giving or for storage, the list is endless. You can save a lot of time and money on this technique.

Ever thought about how you you used to love playing with boxes as a kid? It’s the same way with the kids now. It’s a great for their imagination and creativity that way they aren’t stuck on their video games and computers 24/7. Reawaken the simpler days of arts and crafts. Cardboard can be used for a whole myriad of things. Do yourself and the planet a favor and use your imagination.

Those are the easiest ways when learning how to recycle cardboard!

Many products can be recycled and then reused. Items that can commonly be recycled include many types of paper, aluminum, cardboard, glass and plastic. There are benefits for individuals and businesses that recycle.

In many cases, recycling can be more cost-effective than creating products from scratch. This will become increasingly more prevalent as more individuals and companies start to recycle. Recycling those products that can be recycled can help to reduce waste removal costs for everyone.

Generally speaking, production of products from recycled goods uses less energy than manufacturing new products. The manufacturing of goods from recycled materials usually uses less of the Earth’s natural resources as well. Less pollution results when materials are recycled for reuse rather than having to go through the process of manufacturing from non-recycled materials.

There are many items that can be recycled rather than thrown in the trash. Some of these items are not biodegradable or take a long time to biodegrade. Therefore, they would continue to fill up the landfills and in some cases even pollute the ground. Recycling helps to protect the environment and to reduce the need for so many landfills.

Recycling of certain products can help to save trees. Hopefully as more people and places begin to recycle, the number of trees that are planted for the sole purpose of manufacturing will be reduced. Trees can be planted to live a long and healthy life rather than to be cut down for manufacturing.

One of the other benefits of recycling is that it can help to prevent even more jobs. There is a need for people who will do curbside pickup for individuals and some businesses. Some recycling companies work specifically with larger businesses and organizations. Job positions are needed for all stages of recycling including collection, the breaking down of materials and then the production of new materials.

There are many benefits of recycling. Everyone should be educated on the advantages of recycling.

Recycled paper is paper that has been made in whole or in part from waste paper. If you notice that a paper product is labeled as recycled, you cannot assume that the paper has been made entirely from paper products that are recycled. In theory, if the paper says that it is 100% recycled it is made from wasted paper that has been recycled. Even so, some of the paper might be scraps from manufacturing that were never used at all.

You have probably noticed that some recycled paper products are grey. It is not uncommon to see grey notebooks and other paper sources. However, this does not need to be this way. In fact, you might very well have used paper that has gone through a recycling process without ever realizing it. Paper that has been recycled can be manufactured to be as white as newly manufactured paper.

There are three main types of paper that will be recycled. Paper that is scrap material from paper product manufacturing can be used to recycle. The same is true of pre-consumer paper. This is paper that was manufactured but for one reason or another was never sent out to consumers. Post-consumer paper is the type of paper that you will think of most. This is paper that was used by individuals, business and organizations and then become waste paper.

You can do your part to help protect the environment by always sending your paper to the recycling center. In addition, you can look to purchase paper products that are recycled. There is generally less pollution from the production of paper from recycled materials than new paper. Recycling paper generally results in a decreased consumption of energy and natural resources.

Use paper that is recycled to reduce the amount of trees being cut down throughout the earth. Be Responsible, Do your part.

Many companies are starting to recognize the importance of office paper recycling. It is shocking to know that each office employee can easily rack up 1 ½ pounds of office paper waste during one shift. Of all the office paper used, nearly three quarters of this paper is likely to be recyclable.

There are potential challenges for offices looking to perform paper recycling successfully. It can take time for employees to get used to the idea of recycling paper rather than throwing it away. In many cases, people will have good intentions and want to start recycling but will have difficulty remembering to do so.

Employers can make it easier for their staff to recycle by posting reminders that their business is an environmentally friendly organization that recycles. Recycling containers should be placed in easy access to employees throughout the building. There should be a recycling container near any printers as well as copy and fax machines.

There are a variety of benefits to office paper recycling. Members of a business or organization will know that they are doing their part to help the environment. Recycling can help to save trees, reduce pollution and lower energy use. Businesses even have the potential to make some extra cash through recycling. Some recycling centers will pay for discarded paper that can be recycled. There is typically a higher value for high grade office paper.

The best office paper to be recycled is that which is white and of a good stock quality. Many colored papers, stick-it notes and papers of other qualities cannot be recycled. However, an office will generally find that the majority of paper that they throw away can be sent to be recycled.

Recycling can even help to reduce the cost of trash removal. There will be a great deal less trash to be removed when paper is recycled. Each business should attempt to start a recycling program for any recyclable items and particularly office paper.

Businesses that have a high quantity of cardboard waste, should consider investing in a cardboard baler. Balers can compact and bale cardboard that can easily be taken to a recycling center. Surprisingly, in the long run, a baler can be more cost effective than trash removal for large quantities of cardboard. A business might find that they do not need as many dumpsters or as frequent trash removal with a baler in hand.

When purchasing a baler for cardboard, there are several things that should be considered. Most balers are relatively easy to use and can easily be used by any employee who is 18 years old or older. Businesses should search for a baler that can be used with basic electrical outlets and that does not require any special electrical installation. In fact, most balers should be easy enough to setup without the need for a professional to do so.

Consideration should be given to the space where the cardboard baler will be placed. There are balers of different sizes and shapes. Even mini balers can be purchased. The baler will need to be set in a location where there will be room to load the baler and then to remove the cardboard that has been compacted and baled. Businesses should search for a baler that can crush whole boxes and bale it at the same time.

It is not difficult at all to find balers to purchase. In fact, an organization only needs to look online to find an assortment of companies selling balers. Companies can take the time they need to compare prices and to look at the different types of balers that are available.

There are several positive aspects of using balers. A company can use a baler to prepare cardboard for easy pickup or delivery to a recycling station. In doing so, a business is helping doing their part to be more environmentally friendly. Baled and compacted cardboard boxes will take up less space than boxes that are set aside for disposal.

A company can even earn some extra cash as a result of a cardboard baler. Many recycling companies will pay for baled cardboard based on the weight. A business that has a lot of cardboard waste can easily earn some extra cash.

Paper recycling is not a new concept but is not used as frequently as it should. As businesses and individuals became more informed about recycling, it is starting to be seen on a more widespread basis. Paper recycling can help to save consumers and manufacturers money. It is also environmentally friendly.

There are many different types of papers that can be recycled. Office paper waste is one of the most commonly recycled kinds of paper. Paper from magazines, newspapers and other sources can be recycled as well. Paper that is virgin white is most always able to be recycled. There are paper products of other colors and textures that cannot be recycled.

When people think of paper recycling, they think of paper that people discard being recycled and made into new paper. This is one aspect of paper recycling, however there are a couple others. When a paper manufacturer produces paper, there is always some waste. There are scraps and excess materials that are not able to be used to make new paper. These materials can also be recycled. The same is true of paper sources that are manufactured but due to defects or other factors are never put into circulation for use by consumers.

Even paper that has ink already printed on it can be recycled. There are ways to remove the print (such as print on a newspaper) and then to reuse it. Individuals and businesses can even send newspapers and magazines to be recycled.

When paper is recycled it can help to reduce the number of trees that must be cut down to make paper products. It generally takes less energy, natural resources and less pollution to produce paper from recycled products than to manufacturer completely new pieces of paper. Manufacturers and even consumers can find financial benefits to paper recycling.
